Brothers,
Most of you are unaware of the
current state of our beloved fraternity house. The foundation of the
house has shifted and is no longer safe. This shift caused water to
pool in the back courtyard and eventually flood the basement. The water
then led to mold growing. The estimates to get the basement foundation
fixed and basement repaired are close to $25,000.00
HBC
was planning on a capital campaign to help the house remodel the
kitchen before this disaster. Now the priority is getting the
foundation fixed and basement repaired (I went down into the basement
this past weekend and almost vomited).
Our
current members are working very hard to get the numbers of the house
up. In addition Jon Wood, current RHO, is doing amazing work in
reaching out to alums. Jon's focus is not just to get donations, but to
keep alums up to date on the status of the house. He has a monthly
newsletter. If you do not currently recieve it, please contact him so
that you can.
When
I asked several members what they are doing for dinners at the house,
my questions were met with blank stares. The house doesn't even have
dinners together anymore....not even on Sunday. They were hoping to
have the kitchen brought up to speed so that they could start this
tradition again. We ALL remember how important dinners at the house
were and are!
With all the new apartments
on campus, THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, the house has significant competition
when it comes to students wanting to live in the fraternity house.
Frankly, I can't blame them.
I am asking
YOU ALL to step up anyway that you can. If you can send $20 that will
help, if you can send more, please do. Also, if you have any other
non-monetary donations to help the house, please contact Jon Wood. Send
money to Lambda Chi Alpha, c/o Jon Wood.
We are going to
work towards setting up a golf tournament in St. Louis to help raise
funds for the house as well, through Chuck Krasnicki.
Finally, the house is missing current information on many brothers (click here to go to the list) If you have any information on the following people, please forward it to Jon Wood. We need EVERYONES help.
